One of the illegitimate children of Ann Whyte, "a free Sambo woman". With his mother and siblings, Elizabeth owned enslaved people in St Thomas-in-the-East, although Robert Edmiston senior Esquire (presumably the children's father) held the life interest. Born 18/04/1805 and baptised at Windhill, St Thomas-in-the-East, 02/02/1813 with three of his siblings, "all children of colour".
