Kathleen Mary Butler, The economics of Emancipation: Jamaica and Barbados 1823-1843 (Chapel Hill and London, University of North Carolina Press, 1995) p. 90: James Holligan bought the Mangrove Pond estate from Thomas Lee in 1838, with two partners, for £17,857; p. 90 - James Holligan used the compensation from Bank Hall to pay off part of a mortgage on that estate. James Holligan bought Cox's estate from J.H. Alleyne in 1838 for £27,000.

 

T71/553 p. 333: James Holligan registered 117 enslaved persons on Bank Hall in 1834.
