James Evan Baillie

1781 - 14th Jun 1863

Member of the Baillie of Dochfour family. London and Bristol merchant and banker (Baillie, Ames & Baillie), major recipient of slave compensation across the Caribbean.

Occupations of enslaved women on Buff Bay Plantation, 1819

The Buff Bay plantation was a sugar estate next to the Buff Bay River, south of Charlestown in Jamaica. By 1839, the estate was 840 acres.
