John Vere banker of Lombard Street counterclaimed on the Retreat estate in British Guiana as surviving partner of Vere & Ward mortgagees
The firm, founded in 1788, evolved into Sapte Muspratt, and subsequently merged with Fullers & Co. in 1859 to form Fuller, Banbury, Nix and Matheson, a predecessor of RBS.
