The will of John Thompson of Liverpool refers to his previous business connection with Daniel Steele, known to have been the eponymous partner in Steele, Thompson and Mais.
Kingston merchants: John Mais senior left £2000 in 1798 to allow his son [later Hon.] John Mais to join the merchant firm of Steele, Thompson.
