Established January 1854 by Thomson Hankey sen., of Brunswick Square Brighton. Capital stock £10000, investment made upon trust, to pay and divide yearly the interest thereof 'amongst the widows, or sons and daughters of the clergymen of the Church of England, being in poor circumstances.' Interest distributed annually in July; petitions on or before July 1 to the Trustees of the Thomson Hankey charity, 7 Mincing Lane .
