Notes

At some point between 1823 and 1826, John Simpson bought 42 of the enslaved people from this estate. They appear to have remained working on the estate as they are identified on Lancaster in the compensation records, where compensation was paid to Adam Cliff as mortgagee of John Simpson. The slave register entries for this group were separate from 1826 onwards.

Absentee-owned from at least 1811.
