1817
[Number of enslaved people] 24(Tot) 15(F) 9(M)

Return of David Rudder, his own property. NB that this might not refer to the Risque plantation though the later compensation claim clearly links to Rudder and these returns from 1817 onwards.

T71/522 150-53
1820
[Number of enslaved people] 97(Tot)

Return of William Jonathan Francklin, his own property. Note the following changes though it is not clear that the enslaved were retained on the Risque plantation although many of the names in the 1820 list were the same as in 1817. Sold to John Ellis: 140; sold to Philip Applewhaite: 17; purchased from William C. Moore: 81 (?). However, the returns from Franklin and Moore seem to have been incomplete: see Moore's return of 1823. Additional purchases: from Mary Partridge and sold to Philip Applewhaite: 5; retained: 3; purchased of Agnes Banister: 1; purchased of the estate of S. Trotman, deceased: 1. 2 of the enslaved sold to John Ellis then died. NB that this might not refer to the Risque plantation though the later compensation claim clearly links to Rudder and these returns from 1817 onwards.
