Notes

William Dottin of St Andrew acquired land from the Yeamans family between 1674 and 1687. In 1704, William Dottin’s will specified the bequeathing of his plantation to his son, William. The latter in turn left it to his son Abel in 1717. Having acquired more land, Abel Dottin of Oxford, England, bequeathed in his will of 1760 2 plantations to his sons: Grenade Hall or Farley Hill was acquired by Samuel Rous Dottin; Scotland or Greenland to Abel Rous Dottin. Greenland (or Greenlands) remained in Dottin’s hands until 1823 by when it had been acquired by John Rycroft Best.
