Alexander Buchanan, a pioneering settler in South Australia, was born in Glasgow in 1810, 'the son of a Scots coffee planter in Jamaica'. Online genealogical material identifies him as the son of Alexander Buchanan of Newport, St Mary in Jamaica. LBS has not to date verified this.
