Son of Matthew Baillie, the anatomist. Gentleman of leisure of Duntisbourne Abbots, Gloucestershire.
Married Henrietta Duff 1835. Died 24/12/1894 of 43 Norfolk Square Hyde Park leaving effects of £85,880 11s 7d. His son, also William Hunter Baillie, late Captain in HM's 8th regiment of foot, died 07/03/1895 leaving £56,719 17s 10d. Helen Mary Henrietta Baillie proved the wills of both (the first also with her brother).
Baillie is described as 'trustee' for The Ramble estate in Clarendon. The Ramble was shown as William Lord in 1812, William Lord attorney in 1817, George Harrison Townshend in 1823, 1824 and 1829 and W. H. Baillie in 1832 and 1833.
