Biography

Awarded part of the compensation for the enslaved people on Woodstock in St Ann Jamaica as one of several dozen legatees of William White.

  1. Possibly the Samuel Francis Brough (1798-1879), watchmaker of 3 Charles Square Hoxton who appears as nephew and executor of the will of James White Sawtell (q.v., a co-claimant) in 1862, but more likely his father Samuel, who with his wife Elizabeth baptised Samuel Francis Brough at St Bartholomew the Great, London 29/07/1798. Samuel Brough widower had married Elizabeth Sawtell 04/02/1796 at St Andrew by the Wardrobe.
