Married Jane Sober, 22 April 1823 in St Peter, Barbados. He was buried in St Andrew, 14 August 1831. (it is possible that Jane Sober died in 1854.)

In a Levy Book list for an unidentified parish [probably St Andrew], Barbados, 1804, John M. Morris was listed as owning 30 enslaved. It is possible that this was the same as John Martin Morris.
