  1. Will of Hugh Mackay or McKay planter of Manchester [made in 1833] proved 22/10/1835. In the will he identified himself as a native of Durness in Sutherland, Scotland. He left his property [unspecified] in trust for his father and other annuitants and legatees in Scotland, and made provision for his natural son of colour John Mackay born 1818 in Manchester but then at school in Tonge.
