Biography

Solomon DaSilva patented 300 acres of land in St Ann, Jamaica, in 1786. Owner of 96 enslaved people and 182 stock in St Ann, Jamaica, in 1792. Possibly the father of Solomon Mendes Da Silva (q.v.) who was born in Jamaica in 1781 and owned Rio Ho estate from at least 1817. Rio Ho was registered to Solomon Da Silva in the almanacs from 1809 but this may be the Solomon Mendes Da Silva rather than Solomon Da Silva.
