William Lucien Warner

Biography

William Lucien Warner of St. Thomas reportedly became the owner of the Cane Garden estate, St Thomas, Barbados in 1834. There is no other record of him, and the compensation for the enslaved people on the estate was awarded to William Grant Ellis (q.v.), perhaps casting doubt on the Hughes-Queree account.

Owner

The estate was shown by Hughes-Queree as coming into the possession of Edmund Knight between 1832 and 1834, and being sold by him to William Lucien Warner. The compensation records - which show William Grant Ellis as the awardee - suggest the two transactions for Edmund Knight and William Lucien Warner came later.
