Biography

  1. Robert Bradley was listed for Belmont in the Western District of St Andrew for 20 enslaved people and 4 stock in the givings-in of March 1828.

  2. Elizabeth Yates, daughter of Dr Robert Bradly [sic] and his wife Marie Ann, was born 05/05/1825 and baptised 03/06/1826 in the Roman Catholic Church in Kingston.

  3. "Dr. Robert Bradley, born in Ireland, served in the British Army in the Peninsular War and settled in Jamaica, having acquired a plantation there. Upon the abolition of slavery in 1828 [sic] he emigrated to Quebec. Robert Bradley's son was Joseph Power Bradley (d. ca.1868), an advocate in Quebec, who married Aurelia Aylwin. Their son was Robert Joseph Bradley, also an advocate who was called to the bar of L.C. in 1867."

  4. Robert Bradley, doctor of medicine, age 70 years, husband of Mary Ann Power, died 02/08/1830 and was buried 04/08/1830 in Notre-Dame, Quebec.

  5. In his will signed in December 1828, Robert Bradley of St Andrew, Jamaica, Esquire bequeathed all his estate real and person to his wife Mary Ann Bradley for life on trust to pay out of the rents, issues and profit to maintain, support and educate his wife and his three children Joseph Power, Catherine, and Anna Maria, and after the death of his wife the estate to go to his three children equally.

  6. Joseph Power Bradley married Amelia [or Aurelia?] Aylwin in Notre-Dame, Quebec in 1844. One of the witnesses was his uncle William Power. Joseph Power Bradley, son of Robert Bradley was buried at Notre-Dame in 1850.

  7. Mary Bradley, born Ireland, Roman Catholic, age 68, widowed, was living with Maria Bradley, born West Indies, age 35, single, in Montcalm, Quebec, in the census of 1861. Mary Ann Power, "widow of the late Robert Bradley, Esquire, M.D. of Kingston, Jamaica", who died 25/05/1870, aged 76 years, was buried at St Patrick's, Quebec, 28/05/1870.
