Biography

Awarded compensation with John and George Morant (both of whom q.v.) for the Crawle estate in Jamaica as mortgagees. Quite possibly the same man as Vice Admiral Robert Stuart Lambert (q.v.). Vice Admiral Robert Stuart Lambert's brother General Sir John Lambert had married Jane Morant, sister of John and George Morant, in 1816.  Their father was Robert Alexander Lambert and their mother Catherine Byndloss of Jamaica. In a 1791 marriage settlement (or adjustment to an existing marriage settlement between John Morant of Brockenhurst (d. 1794) and Elizabeth Mary his wife, governing an annuity for Elizabeth and for the younger children of the marriage 'Robert Lambert of Barham Wood' was a party to the indenture. This conceivably was Robert Alexander Lambert (d. 1805) (q.v. under Robert Lambert), whose trusteeship would have descended to his son Robert Stuart Lambert. Robert Lambert (d. 1891] the son of Sir John Lambert and Jane Morant, and nephew of George Morant, was reportedly born in 1818 and would have been to young to have been a co-claimant in 1834/5.
