Biography

Naval officer, one of  a group of co-awardees for 10 enslaved people in Westmoreland, Jamaica. No clear path to ownership has been established.

  1. It is likely that this Gilbert Francis Dawson is the same man as the father of Augustine Rawlins Dawson, baptised at Gravesend 28/10/1846, when the mother's name was given as Harriott Heywood.  It is also likely that this is the Gilbert Francis Dawson whose death was registered at Eastbourne Sussex Q3 1876 aged 76.
