Clerk of the Bank of England, awarded the compensation for 14 enslaved people in British Guiana as the trustee of the marriage settlement of John Castelfranc Cheveley and Frances Barry.
Charles Cheveley was the son of Richard Dodson Cheveley and Marie Letice Castlefranc, and brother of John Castelfranc Cheveley. John Castelfranc Cheveley married Frances Barry, the daughter of a British Guiana slave-owner, and himself spent time in British Guiana in the early 1820s. In 1881 Charles Cheveley retired clerk of the Bank of England aged 81 born Messing Essex was living with wife Charlotte at Chantry Villas Balham Road Streatham.
