Grade II* country house; the Langham estate was purchased c. 1760 by Sir Patrick Blake 1st bart.
The date of the house is given as 1756 in some on-line sources, including some which show Patrick Blake as building it. However, the British Listed Buildings entry shows it as early 18thC.

Daughter of "free Mulatto" lodging-house-keeper Jane Charlotte Beckford (c. 1759-1825); possibly the daughter of George Ffrench, Clerk to the Jamaica Assembly. Spinster; independently wealthy slave-owner.
