Notes

Not identified in the compensation records as owned by Hamilton Brown. Possibly some of the enslaved people were hired from the estate of Henry Graves, deceased, who had previously owned enslaved people on Rock Pleasant and for whom Hamilton Brown was awarded compensation as executor in 1834. See St Ann claim no. 644 (Antrim). The land itself and some of the enslaved people upon it were probably mortgaged to Robert Jones, deceased, whose executor was awarded compensation as mortgagee.
