Biography

Deceased by 1834, his executor was Lawrence Vernon Jones of St Ann. Held a mortgage on Antrim estate (and/or the enslaved people upon it).

  1. Possibly the Robert Jones who owned 6 enslaved people and 6 stock in St Ann in 1792.

  2. In his will made 12th May 1840 Zachary Jones, Zachary Jones, planter, of Eaton Hall, Runaway Bay, Jamaica, of the Parish of St Ann, makes a Lawrence Vernon Jones his executor and refers to him as his brother: "I hereby nominate and appoint my dear brother Lawrence Vernon Jones and John Ellis my lawful Executors..." It seems likely these were the Zachary Jones, aged 3 years, son of Robert Jones Esquire, baptised in St Ann 25/11/1798 and Lawrence Vernon Jones, son of Robert Jones, who was born 10/07/1804 and baptised 20/12/1805 in St Ann. A third brother, Richard Jones, aged 1 year, was baptised in St Ann the same day as Zachary. Zachary Jones also has a son, apparently his elder son, called Robert Jones: "I will and bequeath unto my dear son Robert Jones my fowling piece and dressing case; unto my dear sons Robert Jones and Zachary Jones my canoe, share and share alike; unto Zachary Jones my watch and spy glass...
