  1. John Asgill Gosling is identified as a partner with Hanbury in the London firm in a pseudonymous polemical pamphlet of 1788 by 'A.N.I.' Jacob M. Price characterised the firm as the continuation of the business of Richard Gosling (d. 1769), a neighbour of Osgood Hanbury I.
