Biography

Resident planter. According to an item in the Barbados Advocate, William Grant Ellis left an estate called Canefield (presumably the subject of his award of compensation) to his 'reputed son' Thomas Ellis in 1841. 'Canfield' refers to Cane Garden, St Thomas.
