Army officer, stationed and possibly resident in Ireland, counterclaimed unsuccessfully for the compensation for the enslaved people on the Chatworth estate, Port Royal Jamaica.

  1. Soon of William Fraser of Exeter and Mary Rowland of Liverpool who married 05/04/1807 in Liverpool. His father was aid-de-camp to General Nugent in 1807. Baptised in Exeter, 06/01/1808.

  2. May have lived in Jamaica after the death of his mother in 1834: Mary Henrietta Fraser and Emily Fraser, daughters of John Nugent Fraser and his wife Mary Ann, were baptised in St Andrew, Jamaica, in 1836 and 1841 respectiely. He died in Jamaica in 1842.


Letter to Commissioners from John Nugent Fraser, Lieut 37th Regiment, 19/8/1835: he had not since death of mother in 1834 been able to get leave of absence to go to Jamaica to investigate claims, knew it was contested.
