Rebecca Broadley (née Willock)

???? - 1842

Claimant or beneficiary

Biography

Daughter and legatee of Alexander Willock, and widow of Bath. Together with her sister Elizabeth Cuthbert and Elizabeth Cuthbert's children, she was one of a large number of counterclaimants on a series of estates on Antigua and Montserrat, the compensation for which was paid to George Savage Martin. Although ostensibly unsuccessful, it is probable that she and her fellow counterclaimants were among the beneficiaries of a settlement reached under these claims and administered by George Savage Martin.

  1. In 1841 Rebecca Broadley aged 70 was living with [her sister] Elizabeth Cuthbert also given as aged 70 in Park Street, Walcot, Bath, together with Elizabeth Cuthbert's daughter Eliza and two children surnamed Williams, presumably Elizabeth Cuthbert's grandchildren (the children of her daughter Charlotte Arthuriana Williams), together with four servants.

  2. The death of Rebecca Broadley was registered at Bath Q2 1842.
