Owner of Nairn's Castle in Clarendon, Jamaica, in 1809. Resident in Jamaica from at least 1795 when his daughter Susanna (with Nancy Richards) was baptised in Clarendon. Father of "reputed children" John, Alexander, Daniel, William, Duncan and Colin with "free black woman" Sarah Williams. Deceased by 1817.

Will of Daniel Nairn (supplied by Richard Crowe). To my daughter Susannah Nairn now resident in Nairn in Scotland £1000 sterling. To my reputed children by Sarah Williams a free black woman (John, Alexander, Daniel, William, Duncan and Colin) £2000 Jamaica money each. To the said Sarah Williams free black woman of the Parish of Clarendon £1000 Jamaica money, my house stockings and my furniture at Retirement Pen. To my godson Alexander Hamblat McRae the reputed son of Alexander McRae Esquire of the parish of Clarendon £1000 Jamaica money and my gold watch. I owe and bequeath to Andrew McRae the reputed son of the said Alexander McRae of the parish of Clarendon Esquire £500 Jamaica money. To my Godson William Ross the reputed son of William Rose of the aforesaid parish of Clarendon Esquire £500 Jamaica money. To Alexander Grant free quadroon boy the reputed son of Alexander Grant late of the parish of Clarendon deceased £300 Jamaica money. To my said reputed children John Nairn; Alexander Nairn; Daniel Nairn; William Nairn; Duncan Nairn and Colin Nairn their heirs and assigns for ever my Pen situated near Lime Savannah called "Retirement" in the parish of Clarendon, but it is my will and desire that the aforesaid Sarah Williams shall have a residence there for her lifetime or as long as she chooses and that my executor be authorised to put the buildings in good repair. The remainder of my estate real and personal to my sisters their heirs and asssigns forever share and share alike. Executors: Alexander McRae; William Rose; William Shand of the parish of Clarendon Esquire and Robert Henry and Maurice West of the city of Kingston Esquire. I also appoint the said Alexander McRae; William Rose and William Shand the Guardians of my said reputed children during their minority. I do hereby authorise and empower my executors in case at any time a good opportunity offers and they in their discretion shall think fit to sell all or any Part of my real estate and slaves not herein before devised and upon such sale or sales being made to enter into good valid and sufficient title to the purchaser or purchasor thereof.
