Lewis Jones Pight

1. Probably Lewis Jones Pight, son of Thomas Pight and his wife Hannah, born 16/12/1780 and baptised in St.Elizabeth 10/6/1782. By Valeria Denniss he was reputed father of

   . Dorothy Watkins Pight: born 05/01/1808 and baptised 04/08/1808 - q.v.

   . Hannah Pight: born October 1809 and baptised at Paradise 30/12/1811

   . Lewis Jones Pight: baptised 01/07/1816

   . Eleanor Frances Pight: baptised 01/07/1816.

2. In the baptismal record for Hannah, Valeria Denniss is described as a "free quadroon" but in the entries for the other three children it is they who are called "quadroon".

3. An earlier Lewis Jones Pight was buried at Orange Grove in St.Elizabeth, 16/09/1797, having had children by Mary Allen, variously described as a "free sambo" and "free negro".
