Biography

Resident slave-owner in Jamaica. Deceased by 1826.

  1. Genealogical sources show him as the son of John Orgill (died 1779) and Frances (died 1778), nephew of William Orgill (q.v.) and father of William Anderson Orgill and of Samuel Thomas Orgill (both of whom q.v.). Married 01/06/1778 to Anna Downer of Snow Hill.

  2. Death 03/12/1825, in the 70th year of his age, "The Hon. William Anderson Orgill, Custos Rotulorum and Chief Justice of the Court of Common Pleas [of St George], a very old inhabitant, sincerely regretted and much respected by those who knew him."
