???? - 1777
Slave-owner on Antigua, partner with John Smith (d. 1776) of London, and father of Mathew Christian (q.v.). In his will he specified with unusual strictness the conditions of his wife's life interest in his property- it explicitly excluded his boiling house, for example, and she had no heritable right in the household effects. He left his daughter £6000 and his son John an annuity of £300 p.a.: his main heir was his son Mathew.
Will of Robert Christian of Antigua proved 18/03/1777 PROB 11/1029/174; Will of John Smith merchant of St Christopher Le Stock, London proved 02/03/1776, PROB 11/1018/3.
