Godson of William Helyar (q.v.). Sailed to Jamaica in 1671 where Cary Helyar appointed him book-keeper of the newly formed Bybrook estate. Whaley inherited a moity of Bybrook on the death of Cary Helyar in July 1672 but conveyed the property to William Helyar, along with Cary Helyar's debts. Whaley managed Bybrook until his death in July 1676.
