Co-heir to a 'considerable personal estate' and one moiety of the New Orange Nassau estate in Demerara. She married her husband Anthony Crosby Martin at Gretna Green in 1802. The couple borrowed against, and then mortgaged the estate, to London merchants.
The estate was subject to the Chancery suit of Martin v. Martin in 1831, between the mortgagees of the estate (James Bell, partner with Charles Reed in Reed, Bell and then Bell and Grant, and Bell's heir James Christian Clement Bell) and Anthony Crosbie Martin and his wife Maria Elizabeth Alleyne Martin [nee Lespinasse], 'Martin v Martin', Reports of Cases Argued and Determined in the High Court of Chancery Vol. II 1831 (1837) pp. 507 et seq. .
