14th Nov 1739 - 1827
Son of William Sloane of South Stoneham and his 3rd wife, Elizabeth, daughter of John Fuller of Brightling, Sussex. He was the grandson of William Sloane, the eldest brother of Sir Hans Sloane.
He married (1772) his cousin, Sarah, the daughter of Stephen Fuller and niece of John and Rose Fuller. On the death of Hans Stanley (1721-1780, MP for St Albans 1743-47 and Southampton, 1754-1780 and grandson of Sir Hans Sloane) his Paultons estate passed to Hans Sloane Stanley subject to the life interest of Stanley’s sisters the wives of Welbore Ellis and Christopher D’Oyly. Hans Sloane took the name Stanley in 1821.
He was the first cousin of John 'Mad Jack' Fuller (1757-1834) (q.v.).
Identified as a 'West Indian' MP by Judd.
Entry by Sir Louis Namier in History of Parliament online; Gerrit P. Judd IV, Members of Parliament 1734-1832 (New Haven, Yale University Press, 1955). Note the History of Parliament Online incorrectly identifies Hans Sloane Stanley as the brother-in-law of John 'Mad Jack' Fuller.
