John Holloway or Halloway Hanson

Biography

Resident slave-owner in Jamaica, owner of 133 enslaved people and 181 stock in St Ann, Jamaica, in 1792. He was described as 'of Hyde Park' in the will of his creditor John Kennion proved early in 1793. No will or death-date has yet been found for him by LBS, although he appeared as executor and nephew (in fact step-nephew) of John Holloway of St James in the latter's will made and entered in 1770. No Hyde Park estate appears in St Ann in the Slave Registers or Jamaica Almanacs until 1828/9: that Hyde Park estate appears to have been a continuation of an estate named Tooting.
