Biography

Son of John Parson and grandson of Edward Parson I (both of whom q.v.). He reportedly married a Jamaica heiress, but to date LBS has failed to track the 'slave-property' underpinning her wealth.'

  1. 27 [April 1825] At St Dunstan's Church Fleet Street [marriage of] John Parson Esq. of Bottesdale Suffolk to Elizabeth Georgiana only dau. and heiress of the late Fred.-Geo. Rose esq. of Black River Jamaica and niece of Lady Davidson, with a fortune of £30,000 and £1000 p.a. pin money.'

Sources

Gentleman's Magazine, Vol. XCV (Jan-June 1825) Part I p. 462. Lady Davidson the aunt appears to have been Margaret nee Rose, wife of Sir David Davidson (d. 1817), The Patrician Vol. I (1846) p. 394. Margaret Rose of Kilvarock was the daughter of Elizabeth Rose 19th of Kilvarock and half-sister of Hugh Rose 20th of Kilvarock. However, genealogical sources show only one other sibling, James: there is no sign of a Frederick George Rose to date either in family history sources consulted by LBS or in the Jamaica records.

LBS was alerted to the marriage of John Parson jun. by Hazel Lake, Sugar Planters in Little Parndon (2nd. ed. 2007) p. 34.
