Biography
Son of Thomas Cargill and Mary Eliza Cargill (q.v.), and beneficiary under the will of his mother and of his aunt Eliza Hodgins Cargill (q.v.). His mother left him £6000 plus a further £500, the latter from her compensation money.

[One of these names adm. at the Middle Temple, Nov. 6, 1810, as ‘s. of Thomas, Esq., of Jamaica, deceased.’ Called to the Bar, 1817.
