Biography
Englishman who went to Jamaica in the 1820s and died there in late 1829. He was staying with George Kirlew (q.v.) on Phoenix Park.
- Will of Henry Kirlew [late of Broad Street, Ratcliffe one of the hamlets of the Tower of London] gentleman [but now residing at] Phoenix Park, Westmoreland Jamaica proved 22/04/1830. He left to George Kirlew and Ann Bruce both of Phoenix Park all his estate as tenants-in-common for life, specifying that he owned South Duffield Hall in Yorkshire and his leasehold messuage at 4 Union Place, both then rented out. After the death of George Kirlew and Ann Bruce the property was to pass to his [the testator's] uncle Edward Kirlew coal merchant of Essex Wharf. He left £1000 in trust with George Kirlew and Ann Bruce for the education of any child to be born within 8 months of the date of the will to Mary Smith 'a slave belonging to the Prospect Estate' in Westmoreland.
