Francis Humberston Mackenzie Lord Seaforth

1754 - 1815

Biography

Governor of Barbados, whose ODNB entry presents him in this role as anti-slavery, but makes no mention of his speculative land-purchase in Berbice with Archibald Alves (q.v) among others in 1800-1801.

The "faithful and well beloved Francis Lord Seaforth" was the first name on the Petition to King George III for the establishment of Tain Royal Academy in the Royal Burgh of Tain, Ross-shire. The subscribers each paid £50 or upwards towards the cost of erecting, building and endowing the school.
