Biography

  1. Father of John Martin and presumably also John's sister Margaret Banks nee Martin. Patented 650 acres of land in St Mary, Jamaica, of which 200 remained in 1735 when John bequeathed the remainder to his sister Margaret.

  2. Tentatively identified as Alexander Martin, estate probated in Jamaica in 1728. Slave-ownership at probate: 28 of whom 14 were listed as male and 14 as female. 12 were listed as boys, girls or children. Total value of estate at probate: £541.82 Jamaican currency of which £533 currency was the value of enslaved people. Estate valuation included £0 currency cash, £0 currency debts and £0 currency plate.
