Returned planter and slave-owner from St Kitts, where he owned the Theroulds [sic] estate.
Born Somerset c. 1778. At the time of compensation his address was given as Staple Grove, Taunton. In 1841 he was living at Kingston Cottage Kingston Somerset aged 60 with wife Eliza aged 50, child Eliza 8 and a second child Eliza Stone 7 (identified in 1851 as granddaughter). In 1851 he was living in Kingston Village Somerset aged 73 'Landed proprietor' with wife Eliza aged 62 born St Kitts, and children Alfred Cornelius (22) b. Somerset, Henry Smith (20) b. St Kitts, Eliza Caroline (18) b. Somerset and Eliza Stone grand-daughter b. Somerset. Will of Henry Boon gentleman of Kingston near Taunton Somerset proved 29/03/1854.
The family was downwardly mobile. Henry Smith Boon was a coalmerchant in Weston-super-Mare in 1871, and died at Newport Monmouthshire in 1904 leaving £292 5s; his brother Alfred Cornelius died at Lavender Hill in 1909 leaving £125.
