Biography

Mary Inness, widow of Alexander Inness and mother of John William Inness (q.v.), co-executor of her husband's estate and awarded compensation for ownership of enslaved persons on Kings Bay and Lucy Vale, Tobago, and claiming for Merchiston on Tobago and and counterclaiming for the compensation for enslaved people on Kingstown in St Vincent on the basis of her dead husband's mortgage.

  1. Assumed to be the mother of John William Inness, born 28/04/1787 and baptised 24/05/1787 at St Gabriel, Fenchurch, London.

  2. Address given as 51 Guildford Street, Middlesex, in her counterclaim, but not found in the 1841 census.
