Anthony Musgrave (1793-1852), awarded the compensation for three small awards in Antigua, was the treasurer of Antigua 1824-1852. His son, Sir Anthony Musgrave (1828-1888) was a colonial administrator in the post-Emancipation Caribbean in Antigua, Nevis and St Vincent, then Governor of Newfoundland (from September 1864) and then from August 1869 of British Columbia; Governor of Natal 1872-3; Governor of South Australia 1873-77; Governor of Jamaica 1877-1883; Governor of Queensland 1883-1888.
Third son of Christopher Musgrave of Montserrat and his wife Frances, daughter of Richard Dyett of Montserrat. Born 20/10/1793, married Mary Harris (1801-1856), daughter of Samuel Sheriff of Antigua in 1820. 11 children. MD from Edinburgh University. Treasurer of Antigua 1825-1852. Died in Antigua 24/02/1852.
