Biography

Francis Dennis Massy-Dawson, son of James Hewitt Massy-Dawson (q.v.) and Eliza Jane Dennis, husband of Susan St Clair and co-owner (with his father-in-law Charles, Lord Sinclair (q.v.)) of Trout Hall estate and Chisholm's Mammee Gully Pen estate in Clarendon, Jamaica.

  1. Son of James Hewit Massy Dawson (MP for Limerick County in 1830) and Eliza Jane Dennis. Father was from Ballynacourte, County Tipperary, Ireland. Born 23/09/1803 and baptised 17/10/1803 in Marylebone, London.

  2. At 12 Victoria Square, Westminster, in the 1851 census, barrister, living with his first wife and their four children. Census gives Mary A. Dawson age 20, born in Marylebone, Middlesex, Jane I. Dawson, age 19, born in Pancras, Middlesex, Susan S. Dawson, age 13, born in Germany and Francis S. Dawson, born in Germany. The 1901 census for his youngest daughter Lilian Harriet Massy Dawson (who married Edward Arthur Bagot in 1891) gives her birthplace as Italy.
