Biography

Joint owner of Bushy Park estate in St Ann, Jamaica, with his wife Ruth James, daughter of William Hind. It's not clear what the precise ownership arrangements were - whether Ruth owned some of the enslaved people or whether the whole estate was hers in trust.

  1. John Lindsay Watt Hind, son of John Cross Rose and Mary Gillespie his wife, born 09/11/1794 and baptised in Trelawny 08/07/1795.

  2. Benjamin Frederick Hind, born 22/09/1821, son of John Lindsay Watt Hind and Ruth James his wife, baptised in St Ann 28/10/1823.

  3. Death "On the 45th ult. at Dover plantation, St. Mary's, Elizabeth, relict of the late John Lindsay Watt Hind, aged 50 years." Presumably Ruth had died and Elizabeth was John's second wife.
