In her will of 1827, Mary Walkinshaw née Nicol left all her property to her son Robert and after Robert's death to John (the son of her son Edward) and Mary (the daughter of her son William). The eldest child of William Walkinshaw of Trinidad was called Mary and the eldest child of Edward was called John.
