Trustee and executor of William McDowall, not further identified to date. There appears to be no evidence to link this Archibald Campbell of Grenada No. 688 with Archibald Campbell of Blythswood, beyond the connections of both to Glasgow.

  1. The Campbell family of Blythswood long connected with Glasgow: owned a large property in and to the west of the city 'practically all of which is now feued'. [Feued = a right to the use of land in return for a fixed annual payment.] By 1914, 530 acres to the east of the River Kelvin. Campbell the second son of James Douglas of Mains who succeeded to the Blythswood estates on the failure of the Campbell and took the name of Campbell. Archibald (1763-1838) inherited the property on the death of his brother in 1794. Major in the 1st Royals [later the Royal Scots]; MP for Glasgow Burghs. Never married. Succeeded by the Mains family on the Blythswood estates.
