Employed part-time for many years, Louise’s cytoskeleton research has contributed novel cell polarisation and cell motility mechanisms, which have featured multiple times in the scientific news. She now focuses on education research to identify the origin of the difference in scores awarded to minority ethnic and white undergraduate students (with white students receiving the higher marks). Her findings have been highlighted in Times Higher Education and Nature Magazine. Her work will help provide much needed evidence-based interventions to reduce this ethnicity award gap and consequent career progression gaps.

Louise also contributes teaching for the Division of Biosciences and the LMCB including:

• Cell Biology Tutor MRes Programme 2010-2016
• Major review of cell biology year 2 undergraduate teaching
• Conceiving interventions to increase student satisfaction
• Initiating and development of inclusive teaching, learning and assessment
• Co-organiser of cell biology undergraduate education across year 2, teaching 200-400 students per year
• Conceiving and development of new year 3 undergraduate module
