1752 - 18th Feb 1806
Memorial inscription in Mitcham, Surrey: "Here lies interred the body of Andrew Wright, Esqr, formerly of this place and late of the parish of St Elizabeth and of Mitcham Penn in the Island of Jamaica who departed this life on the 18th day of February 1806, aged 54 years. From his great partiality to this place he named his penn in Jamaica Mitcham."
George Roberts was brother-in-law to Ann (nee Wright) Maitland, wife of Francis Maitland.
Under Andrew Wright's will 21/1/1806: John Pusey Wint was given as his 'son-in-law' [in fact stepson]. Wint was a trustee under the will. Reputed daughters Ann Wright and Elizabeth Wright, born of the body of Ruth Sinclair: 'if the said A & E Wright go to Jamaica unmarried they should forfeit all benefit under the will.'
Baptisms for three of the daughters of Andrew Wright and 'free mestee' Ruth Sinclair have been found in St Elizabeth: Sarah (1785), Ann (1789) and Mary (1792). The children were 'reputed white'.
T71/870 'Adjudged (with No. 224 Manchester) £792 9s 11d to John Pusey Wint, and the residue to John Salmon et al. John Salmon claimed as executor of Ann Maitland, John Pusey Wint counterclaimed 'under the will of the late Andrew Wright'. John Pusey Wint [formerly of Island of Jamaica]'s dau. m. at British consulate at Boulogne sur mer, Times 28/12/1853 p. 10.

PROB 11/1440/66 - precis. Andrew Wright of St Elizabeth Jamaica but currently residing in Great Tower Street, London. Around 30 enslaved people and Single Rock plantation in Vere, Jamaica, to my son-in-law John Pusey Wint. My pen and plantation in St Elizabeth called Mitcham and all my other real estate in Jamaica (except those estates of which I am a trustee or mortgagee) to my friends as trustees: John Chambers of St Elizabeth, Jamaica; Jeremiah Snow of Broad Street Ratcliffe High Way, Middlesex, Hatter; the said John Pusey Wint ;and James Cross of Southw[ar]k in Surrey, Gentleman. By sale or mortgage my trustees to raise £5000 Jamaican currency without interest to John Pusey Wint by five yearly instalments of £1000; also similarly to give £1000 Jamaican currency to my relation and "cosson" Andrew Wright Booth of Vere, Jamaica at the age of 21. My trustees to manage Mitcham and charge upon it £300 sterling per annum to my wife Elizabeth Mary Wright for life either in Jamaica or in Great Britain. The residue of the income from the estate to pay for the maintenance and education of my reputed daughters Ann Wright and Rebecca Wright born of the body of Ruth Sinclair until the age of 21 or marriage. Then the whole residue to be divided into two equal parts to Ann Wright and Rebecca Wright, thereafter to the lawful heirs of their bodies in equal shares as tenants in common. In default of heirs then Mitcham and my other estate in Jamaica to John Pusey Wint and Andrew Wright Booth in equal shares as tenants in common. To John Chambers, John Pusey Wint, Jeremiah Snow and James Cross £100 Jamaican Currency upon my decease as a mark of my friendship and regard for them. Two copies of my will be delivered to Ann Wright and Rebecca Wright after my decease that they may be fully aquainted with the contents and particularly the clause prohibiting their return to Jamaica under the circumstances aforesaid.
