Son of Francis Maitland and his wife Ann nee Wright. Inherited a share in Mitcham and Silver Grove estates in trust under the will of his grandfather Andrew Wright on the death of his mother Ann c. 1833. Born 31/05/1819 and baptised in St Elizabeth, Jamaica, in 1821. Not identified in the British censuses. An unsourced family tree on Ancestry.com (by purplefrog505) gives his date of death as 19/12/1850.
